The Triangle Offense of Life

Summer is finally here! If you want that beach body, keep reading. Some of you may have seen this triangle before during Samahan meetings. But if you haven’t, the Triangle Offense of Life (coined by my friend Abe, thanks bro. Go Lakers!) is my way of looking at everyone’s #1 goal, our health. These three categories, Exercise, Nutrition, and Sleep is what we all need to excel in to reach our physical peak, and keep going. Each category affects the other in more ways than one and vice-versa:

Exercise => Sleep
Exercise, and we spend a greater amount of time in stage three and four sleep, the most restorative and repairing stages of sleep.

Exercise => Nutrition
Exercise affects how well we metabolize food.

Nutrition => Exercise
How well we eat determines how effective our workout becomes.

Nutrition => Sleep
Our nutrition, especially our last meal of the day stabilizes blood sugar through the nighttime hours and affects how well we sleep.

Sleep => Exercise
How well we sleep affects how fast our muscles heal and grow.

Sleep => Nutrition
Quality of our sleep affects how well we digest.

So as you can see, it’s all connected.The simplicity of this triangle makes staying healthy look so easy but it isn’t. Each category can branch off into various complexities. Much like the Triangle Offense of the Los Angeles Lakers, it is difficult to learn and maintain. And that’s why I started this blog…
